There has been a strong connection between Thai literature and visual arts throughout history. One of the types of the relationships is that of the presentation of literary works as parts of the visual arts, such as Khlong Phap Ramakien at Wat Phra Chetuphon, Khlong Phap Suphasit at Wat Phra Kaeo, Charuek Lablae Pratip at Bang Pa-In Palace, Khlong Phap Phraratchaphong sawadan, and the poetry carved on the monuments. Those literary works were intentionally composed to specifically combine with the visual arts in order to describe or explain the arts, so that the audience can appreciate both literary and visual arts at the same time. As those literary works have the specific function and purpose related to the other arts, this gives a rationale for the study to examine the form, content, and literary techniques of those literary works as well as to analyse the significance and value of the works as parts of the visual arts.
