Nithan Borankhadi are historical anecdotes composed by Prince Damrong Rajanubhab. He told many stories by adding personal knowledge or experience to the topic – geography, history, archeology and customs. In the area of Isan studies, he narrated stories when he was the inspectorate in the Northeast in 1906. Prince Damrong conveyed history, politics, governance, ways of life, living and cultural tradition in the context of Isan society. He provided information with the view of an educator using interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze, diagnose and express opinions regarding Isan society. His information and thoughts are very useful for understanding the ways of life and the relationship between central and local administration, which is significant to area studies of Isan region today.
