1. สถาบันไทยศึกษามีนโยบายมุ่งสู่ความเป็นเลิศด้านการสร้างองค์ความรู้และงานวิจัยไทย-ไทศึกษาทั้งในระดับชาติและนานาชาติ
2. สถาบันไทยศึกษามีนโยบายสร้างเครือข่ายไทย-ไทศึกษา โดยมุ่งให้เกิดการประสานงาน รวมทั้งแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ เพื่อสร้างสรรค์วงวิชาการไทย-ไทศึกษาในระดับชาติและนานาชาติ
3. สถาบันไทยศึกษามุ่งพัฒนาศูนย์ข้อมูลไทยศึกษาให้เป็นแหล่งค้นคว้าข้อมูลไทย–ไทศึกษา เพื่อสร้างประโยชน์ต่อการวิจัย รวมทั้งใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเผยแพร่องค์ความรู้สู่สังคม
4. สถาบันไทยศึกษามุ่งสืบสาน บำรุงรักษาภูมิปัญญาไทยด้านต่างๆ เพื่อเอื้อประโยชน์แก่สังคมไทยและสังคมโลก
1. To achieve excellence in creating the body of knowledge and research in Thai-Tai studies both at the national and international levels
2. To build networks in Thai-Tai studies by promoting co-operation and exchange of knowledge in order to support the academic circles both at the national and international levels
3. To develop the Thai Studies Data Center as a major research source for Thai-Tai studies and use information technology to disseminate this body of knowledge to the public
4. To nurture and preserve Thai wisdom in various fields for the benefit of the Thai and global societies
